Day 1: Transfer from Batumi airport to Batumi

Day 2: Batumi and surroundings

After enjoying a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, we will dedicate the morning to connecting with the cultural roots of the region at the Batumi Ethnographic Museum. This unique space will captivate us with its impressive wood carvings and recreations celebrating the soul and traditional customs of Georgia. Later, we will head south to explore the historic Gonio Fortress, an ancient Roman bastion from the 1st century. We will stroll among ruins that whisper stories of the Silk Road and sacred legends, such as the supposed location of the tomb of the Apostle Matthias. To close the day, we will return to the heart of the city to explore downtown Batumi, wandering through the charming streets of the old town and strolling along its iconic coastal Boulevard.

Day 3: Batumi - Martvili - Prometheus - Kutaisi

After enjoying breakfast and leaving behind the sea breeze of Batumi, we will head toward the green heart of Georgia for a day dedicated to the spectacular nature of Imereti. Our first stop will be the impressive Martvili Canyon, a place that seems straight out of a fairy tale, where water has sculpted the rock for millennia. We will walk along its trails surrounded by virgin forest and, if weather and river conditions are favorable, we will have the privilege of navigating its turquoise waters by boat, approaching its vibrant waterfalls. The adventure continues as we plunge into the depths of the earth at the famous Prometheus Cave. There we will traverse a labyrinth of underground halls decorated with majestic stalactites and stalagmites and, conditions permitting, complete the experience with a fascinating boat ride on the river flowing inside. With our eyes full of unforgettable landscapes, we will end our journey arriving at the historic city of Kutaisi.

Day 4: Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia - Khertvisi - Tbilisi

Today we will begin the day exploring the majestic Vardzia, an extraordinary 12th-century rock-hewn monastery city that will transport us to the past. We will venture into its labyrinthine tunnels to discover unique medieval frescoes and visit its ancient wine cellars, witnesses to the millennial winemaking tradition of the area. We will continue our route to the imposing Khertvisi Fortress, one of the oldest fortifications in Georgia, strategically located in the Samtskhe-Javakheti valley; there we will admire its robust walls and enjoy unparalleled panoramic views. Finally, we will head toward Tbilisi to conclude the day. Although an extensive road journey awaits us, it will become a memorable experience in itself, treating us to a continuous visual spectacle. We will cross dreamlike landscapes dominated by the imposing mountains of the Lesser Caucasus.

Day 5: Tbilisi - Guided tour

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our cultural immersion on the vibrant Rustaveli Avenue, the beating heart of Tbilisi. On this elegant boulevard, we will admire architectural gems such as the imposing Parliament and the neo-Moorish Opera Theatre, as well as the distinctive Rustaveli Theatre and the beautiful Kashveti Church. Our tour will then take us to Metekhi Square, where the historic church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali will offer privileged views over the Mtkvari River. The experience will reach new heights as we take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, the ancient defensive citadel from the 4th century that offers the best panoramic views of the capital. We will then venture into the picturesque Abanotubani district, world-famous for its historic sulfur baths and charming medieval streets. Finally, we will conclude this unforgettable day visiting the Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in the city.

Our adventure begins leisurely in Batumi, exploring its famous boulevard, the Ali and Nino love statue, and its lush vegetation. Leaving the sea behind, we will venture into the Imereti region to discover the natural wonders of western Georgia. We will navigate the emerald waters of Martvili Canyon, surrounded by waterfalls, and marvel at the underground formations of Prometheus Cave, a world of artistically illuminated stalactites.

The History Route

The journey takes a historical turn as we head toward the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. Here we will visit the Rabati fortress in Akhaltsikhe, an impressive example of restoration showcasing the blend of cultures in the region. The highlight will be exploring Vardzia, an immense monastery city carved into the mountainside in the 12th century, symbol of Georgia's Golden Age. We will continue east passing by Khertvisi fortress and Borjomi park, famous for its mineral waters, before ending in Tbilisi. A journey combining nature, geology, and medieval history in a no-backtrack route.
