DAY 1: Transfer from Batumi airport to Batumi

DAY 2: Batumi - its surroundings
After enjoying a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, we will dedicate the morning to connecting with the cultural roots of the region at the Batumi Ethnographic Museum. This unique space, the work of sculptor Kemal Turmanidze, will captivate us with its impressive wood carvings and recreations that celebrate the soul and traditional customs of Georgia in a visual and artistic way. Later, we will move south to explore the historic Gonio Fortress. In this ancient 1st-century Roman bastion, we will stroll among ruins that whisper stories of the Silk Road and sacred legends, such as the supposed location of the tomb of the Apostle Matthias, all with the Black Sea breeze in the background. To close the day with a cosmopolitan touch, we will return to the heart of the city to tour the center of Batumi. We will lose ourselves in the charming streets of the old town and stroll along its iconic coastal Boulevard, absorbing the vibrant atmosphere and eclectic architecture of this Caucasus gem.

DAY 3: Batumi - Martvili - Prometheus - Kutaisi
After breakfast and leaving behind the sea breeze of Batumi, we will head towards the green heart of Georgia to experience a day dedicated to the spectacular nature of Imereti. Our first stop will be the impressive Martvili Canyon, a place that seems taken from a fairy tale, where water has sculpted the rock for millennia. We will walk along its paths surrounded by virgin forest and, if the weather and river flow are favorable, we will have the privilege of navigating by boat through its turquoise waters, approaching its vibrant waterfalls. The adventure will continue by immersing ourselves in the depths of the earth in the famous Prometheus Cave. There we will traverse a labyrinth of underground halls decorated with majestic stalactites and stalagmites and, whenever conditions permit, we will complete the experience with a fascinating boat ride on the river that flows inside. With our eyes full of unforgettable landscapes, we will end our journey arriving at the historic city of Kutaisi, where we will conclude this day of total connection with the elements.

DAY 4: Kutaisi - Gori - Uplistsikhe - Mtskheta - Tbilisi
We will leave Kutaisi behind to take a fascinating chronological journey through Georgia's history. Our first stop will be in Gori, where we will visit the Stalin Museum. In this complex, we will explore the Soviet leader's birthplace, his famous armored train carriage and a collection of personal objects that will help us understand the complexity of his legacy. Next, we will go back millennia in time upon reaching Uplistsikhe, an impressive ancient city carved into rock. We will walk through its streets, pagan temples and tunnels dating from the first millennium BC, silent witnesses to pre-Christian history. The route continues to the spiritual heart of the country: Mtskheta. There we will admire the majestic Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, an 11th-century architectural jewel loaded with symbolism. To end the day with an unforgettable view, we will climb to Jvari Monastery, perched on a hill. From there, we will contemplate the iconic confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers before completing our journey to the capital, Tbilisi.

DAY 5: Tbilisi - Guided tour
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our cultural immersion on the vibrant Rustaveli Avenue, the beating heart of Tbilisi. On this elegant boulevard, we will admire architectural gems such as the imposing Parliament and the neo-Moorish Opera Theatre, as well as the distinctive Rustaveli Theatre and the beautiful Kashveti Church. Our tour will then take us to Metekhi Square, where the historic church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali will give us privileged views over the Mtkvari River. The experience will reach new heights as we take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, the ancient 4th-century defensive citadel offering the best panoramic views of the capital. Later, we will enter the picturesque Abanotubani district, world-famous for its historic sulfur baths and charming medieval streets. Finally, we will culminate this unforgettable day by visiting the Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in the city, where time seems to stand still among its walls and secular frescoes.

DAY 6: Tbilisi - Telavi - Alaverdi - Kvareli - Tbilisi
Our immersion in wine culture begins by traveling east, entering the famous Kakheti region. We will make a first stop in Telavi, the historic heart of the area, to soak up its atmosphere before continuing to the majestic Alaverdi Monastery. This imposing 6th-century cathedral, which stands alone among fertile valleys, will allow us to appreciate sacred architecture surrounded by ancestral vineyards. The oenological experience will reach its climax upon arriving in Kvareli to visit the impressive Khareba Winery. We will venture into its unique tunnels excavated under the Caucasus mountains, a network of more than 7 kilometers perfect for wine conservation. It will be in this unique setting where we will deepen our learning about the traditional kvevri winemaking method, an intangible heritage of humanity. The day is completed by tasting their excellent wines, fusing knowledge and flavor, before heading back to Tbilisi.

About this trip
Follow the Georgian Wine Route on a 7-day journey that celebrates the world's oldest winemaking tradition. Although we begin in Batumi, on the western coast, the main objective of this itinerary is to take us to the heart of wine culture in the east of the country, offering a complete oenological experience combined with cultural visits.
Journey to the East
We will leave behind the Black Sea and the historic city of Kutaisi to cross the country. Along the way, we will stop at the cave city of Uplistsikhe and the ancient capital Mtskheta, sacred places that prepare us for cultural immersion. Upon arriving in Tbilisi, we will head to the Kakheti region, the epicenter of Georgian wine.
Qvevri Culture
In Kakheti, we will visit the majestic Alaverdi cathedral, surrounded by monastic vineyards, and the city of Telavi. We will have the opportunity to visit traditional and modern wineries, learning about the qvevri winemaking method (large buried clay jars), recognized by UNESCO. We will taste unique amber wines and enjoy local gastronomy in Kvareli. This trip is a pilgrimage for lovers of fine food and drink, connecting sensory pleasure with the deep history of a nation that has cultivated the vine for 8,000 years.
