Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kutaisi
Reception at Kutaisi airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, panoramic tour of the city, Georgia's second largest and former capital of the Kingdom of Colchis. Walk through the historic center and local market. Accommodation in Kutaisi.
Day 2: Kutaisi - UNESCO Monasteries - Tbilisi
In the morning we visit Gelati Monastery, a 12th-century jewel and World Heritage Site, famous for its extraordinary mosaics and frescoes. We continue to Motsameta Monastery, spectacularly situated above the Tskaltsitela River canyon. Transfer to Tbilisi crossing the heart of Georgia. Arrival and orientation walk through the old town. Day 3: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Ananuri - Kazbegi
Departure north along the historic Georgian Military Highway. First stop in Mtskheta, the ancient capital and spiritual center of Georgia, where we visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery, both World Heritage Sites. We continue to Ananuri Fortress, beautifully situated beside the Jinvali Reservoir. We cross the mountain pass at 2,394 meters altitude with extraordinary panoramic views. Arrival in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda). Accommodation in Kazbegi.
Day 4: Kazbegi - Gergeti Church - Tbilisi
In the morning, ascent by 4x4 vehicle to Gergeti Trinity Church (2,170 m), one of Georgia's most emblematic sites, with the imposing Mount Kazbek (5,033 m) as backdrop. Time to enjoy the landscape and take a short hike in the surroundings. Return to Tbilisi in the afternoon. Visit to the sulfur bath district of Abanotubani and Narikala Fortress. Traditional dinner with Georgian music. Accommodation in Tbilisi.
Day 5: Tbilisi - Kakheti - Wine Route
Day dedicated to the Kakheti wine region, birthplace of wine over 8,000 years ago. We cross the picturesque Gombori Pass to reach Telavi, the regional capital. Visit to Tsinandali Estate, former residence of Prince Chavchavadze with its romantic gardens and historic winery. We continue to the impressive Alaverdi Cathedral (11th century), one of the tallest in the country. Visit to a family winery where we will learn about the traditional qvevri winemaking method with wine tasting. Accommodation in Kakheti.
Day 6: Sighnaghi - Bodbe - Tbilisi - Kutaisi
In the morning we visit Sighnaghi, known as the "City of Love," a charming 18th-century walled town with spectacular views of the Alazani Valley and Caucasus Mountains. We continue to Bodbe Monastery, a pilgrimage site where the remains of Saint Nino, evangelizer of Georgia, rest. Return to Tbilisi for lunch and free time for shopping handicrafts and local products. In the afternoon, transfer to Kutaisi. Accommodation in Kutaisi.
Day 7: Kutaisi - Prometheus Cave - Departure
In the morning, visit to the spectacular Prometheus Cave, with its illuminated stalactite and stalagmite formations, underground lakes, and optional boat ride. Transfer to Kutaisi airport for return flight. End of services.
